Grant by Kedron Wavell RSL Sub-Branch.

Early in July, the Kedron Wavell RSL Sub-Branch granted our association the sum of $4,500 which will be used to order and purchase Port Crocks which will be made available for members to purchase to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Squadron leaving Vietnam.

On Wednesday the 13th July, John McDougall, our Association's President and John Sambrooks (Sambo) the Secretary/Treasurer, as well as Trevor Benneworth, a "hanger-oner", attended the Sub-Branch's general meeting to thank the RSL's Committee and members for their generosity in making the grant available and to present them with a copy of the Association's Plaque.

Below, John McDougall telling the RSL members some of the Squadron's history in Vietnam.

L-R:  Trev Benneworth (possibly the best Radtech the RAAF ever had), Greg Peake (Kedron Wavell RSL Sub-Branch President), John McDougall (who used to sit behind the pilots and show them how to fly the Caribou and to stop them getting lost, would tell them where to go .....left hand down a bit..) and John Sambrooks (who, each night, would single-handedly rebuild the aircraft, sometimes from flattened out VB cans, after they would return, all busted up, from the day's sorties.
